X Ray Markers-Definition, Use and Types
What are x ray markers?
X ray markers also known as max markers, lead markers, Pb markers, ray markers, or radiographic film identification markers, are tools used for marking x ray films. They are not only used in hospitals for diagnostic procedure but also used in industries such as automobile companies or airlines. Most use of x ray markers in biological concern is for determining anatomical sections of a body. It is also used for indicating position of a body, bone or tissues. Most markers consist of left or right letters with or without initial numbers. They are widely used with conventional and portable x- ray machines.

2. Identifier Markers

They are provided with polythene casing.
They are used in personalized film identification.

3. Digital markers
This type of markers are used for making accurate comparison between life-size (what you see) and image size (what you get).
They are specially designed for teleradiology and CR imaging.
The marker is placed upon direct radiography (DR) or computed radiography (CR) to capture the anatomy.
It has a 3 cm long ruler made of lead.
They are color coded, R for red and L for blue.
They provide high density and high impact lead letters for marking.
4. Clipper markers
This type of marker contains clipper for attaching markers to cassette.
