•    One year program
If you are already into the healthcare field and want to change your carrier to x-ray technician or expand your knowledge in this field you just require a 1 year accelerated program.  Most 1 year programs are for registered nurse or other medical professionals want to change their carrier. Education and training

The 3 type of formal training generally offered by an x ray tech schools are certificate program, associate or bachelors degree. Associate degree is the most common form of formal education provided. Certificate program generally lasts for 2 year. The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic accredits the above mentioned 3 type of courses. In 2009 the organization has accredited 213 certificate programs, 397 associate degree programs and 35 bachelors degree program.

Licensure

As the job of an x ray technician or a radiologist is very risky, many states seek license to work in. However it is up to the state, seeking for the license or not. also opens door for you to various other fields such as CT scanning, mammography, dental radiography, computed radiography, direct radiography and others. With time and experienced gain you can also be promoted to department administrator, supervisor, health administrator, instructor or director.

Being an x ray technician is a job of great responsibility. It takes great training and continuous leaning.
